Ollie’s, a discount retailer, will open a new store in Springfield, MO, on October 23, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. in Battlefield Plaza, replacing a former Big Lots. The chain, specializing in closeout merchandise, also opened a Lebanon, MO, store in June 2025 and has locations in Sedalia, MO, and Mountain Home, AR. A vacant Big Lots on North Kansas Expy in Springfield is not included in their plans.

The Shoppes at Wedington, a 15,820-square-foot shopping center in Fayetteville, AR, was sold for $5.75 million ($363/sq ft) to Wedington Fayetteville AR LLC, managed by Curtis A. Jared of Jared Commercial & Management. Built in 2010 on 2.24 acres, the center, which houses tenants like CJ’s Butcher Boy Burgers and Domino’s, was originally purchased for $976,000 in 2008. Guaranty Bank financed the transaction with a $3.45 million, 10-year loan, and City Title & Closing LLC served as the title agent.

Cousins Kukuh Bayu Prakoso and Raven Al Rasya are opening a second Raku Hibachi Sushi & Ramen location in Ozark, MO, at 1487 W. South St. in early August, after investing $200,000, moving from Maryville. The restaurant, named “Raku” for comfort and their initials, will offer Japanese dishes with a southern twist, like chicken tonkatsu ramen, in a growing area with less competition. Starting as a Kansas City food truck in 2022, Raku became a Maryville brick-and-mortar in 2023, with both locations operating under a five-year lease with Jared Management LLC.

Mercy – June 12 2025

Mercy and Humana opened 65 Prime+ by Mercy Primary Care clinics for Medicare patients 65 and older in Springfield, MO (June 4, 2025), and Nixa, MO (June 12, 2025), following a Joplin clinic in 2023. These clinics provide extended visits, frequent appointments, urgent care access, and community spaces for education and fitness, serving up to 2,000 patients each. Expansion is planned across Missouri, Arkansas, and Oklahoma for Medicare Advantage and Original Medicare patients.

Mercy and Humana opened 65 Prime+ clinics for Medicare patients 65+ in Springfield (319 E Battlefield Road) and Nixa (701 N. Ollie’s Bargain Outlet will open in the vacant former Big Lots store at 303 E. Battlefield Road, Springfield, MO, in fall 2025, after filing plans in May 2025 for interior updates and system modifications. Chick-fil-A will open its sixth Springfield, MO, location at 3801 W. Sunshine St., near McCurry Ave., in late fall 2025 or early 2026, on the former Southside Auto Sales site, creating 80–120 jobs. The new restaurant joins other area Chick-fil-A locations and is part of a growing retail hub near West Bypass and W. Sunshine St., including the Sunshine Towne Center with a new Target and Olive Garden.
